We about Us

DACOS was established on the 3rd of March 1992 by Dan Petrescu, the only shareholder of the company at present. DACOS is registered within the Registrar of Companies with the number J38/328 and, starting from the 4th of December 1992, within the Ministry of Finance with the code R1473244.
The total registered capital is of 457,000.00 RON, out of which 70,446.00 RON contribution in kind of the unique associate and the rest of 386.554 RON represents paid-up capital. The last capital increase took place on the 20th of June 2005, according to the notification nr. 18097/June 20th, 2005.
The head office of the company is located in Romania, 267 Calea Bucuresti, 240291 Rm.Valcea,VL (European road E81). Here you can find also the mechanical transport depot, equipped with all technical and logistic kits necessary to carry on the passenger road transport specific activities.

1992-1997

From the very beginning of its activity, DACOS developed the most complex side of the transport - the passenger road transport on scheduled basis.
Thus, the first regular route was started, linking Rm.Valcea and Bucharest (via Pitesti), with only one departure from the train station in Rm.Valcea and North Station (Gara de Nord) in Bucharest, respectively. The first steps in this domain were dominated by the difficulties unavoidable in a pioneer’s work, amplified by a stalemate attitude and lack of trust from the potential clients. All these on the framework of a disastrous infrastructure. But time has solved many of these drawbacks.
With a lot of perseverance and a lot more organization, DACOS managed to impose on the transport of people market as a trustworthy transporter with great potential and good perspectives. DACOS perfected an inter-county transport system, based on daily routes to Pitesti, Dragasani, Bucharest, Craiova, Sebes, Alba Iulia, Aiud, Turda, Cluj Napoca, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Caransebes, Lugoj, Timisoara si Sibiu.
Euro-Tour Tourism Agency was established by DACOS in 1994, having license and employees specialized in this field. Euro-Tour is a Tour-operating Tourism Agency, license nr. 567/categ. A, affiliated to ANAT.
Starting from 1997, DACOS offered its transport services to the National Tourism College in Calimanesti, being its unique transporter for special routes, as well as for tourist activities.
DACOS was the official transporter of OLTCHIM handball team, many times national champion, winner of numerous cups and international trophies. It was also the official transporter at Carpathian trophy held in Rm.Valcea. On this occasion, the national teams of Germany, Russia, Denmark and Romania traveled by DACOS coaches.


1998-2003

Starting from April 2001, DACOS took over a part of the county routes and at present, in co-operation with Antares Transport SA, provides regular transport to all tha Spa areas arround Rm.Valcea - Calimanesti/Caciulata, Baile Olanesti, Cheia and Baile Govora.
Coach maintenance and current repairs are done in our own workshops, equipped with all specific tools: lathes, drilling machines, grinding machines, compressors, welding machines etc.
Being a huge fuel consumer (4000 liters/day), DACOS opened a modern filling station together with CASTROL company, financially supported by Transilvania Bank. The covering of the needed lubricants is done, in this period, as stipulated in contract nr. 21/February 1st,1999, concluded with Castrol Central and Eastern Europe GmbH (Hamburg-Germany), the exceeding quantity being used by a third party. For its petrol trade activity, DACOS buys from the economic units that provide petroleum in Romania. Let us mention some of them: ARPECHIM Refinery Pitesti, ASTRA Refinery Ploiesti, PETROM storehouses Valcea and PETROBRAZI Refinery. In 2003, DACOS started and finished the project of a modern car wash station, performing at present various maintenance works for means of transport. DACOS turnover in 2003 was 2,675,000 EURO.
In order to provide a better service quality, DACOS started the implementation of ISO 9001 quality standard. Towards the end of 2003, DACOS started the collaboration with SCANIA Romania in order to purchase modern coaches, which can be seen on Romanian roads. Starting from 2003, DACOS started a partnership with STEAUA Bucuresti, maybe the most popular footbal team in Romania, DACOS being the official transporter of this team for the championship games, for international matches, as well as for the trips on training tours.


2004-2006

DACOS currently uses over 100 public stops to take on/set down clients and and over 50 coaches for the daily transport schedule.
The structure of the park is characterized by a high comfort level, all coaches used to transport people being dedicated to high-class transport.
In 2004, DACOS turnover was 3,330,000 EURO, with 23% more than 2003. In 2004, DACOS finished the implementation of ISO9001 quality standard and receives the certificate nr. 6/August 18th, 2004, certifying the fact that DACOS implemented and maintains a quality management system that meets the demands of the standard SR EN ISO 9001:2001.
As a result of the change of development strategy, DACOS can be now identified in the activity carried on by the following companies: DACOS Service (deals with the repair and maintenance activity of DACOS fleet), DACOS Parts (deals with the supply with imported spare parts) and DACOS Med (monitors the activity carried on by the components of DACOS "system" from the medical point of view).
In 2005, DACOS closed the financial year with a turnover increase of 36%, 4,500,000 euro as compared to the previous year report. All the 213 employees of the company contributed to this achievement. By accessing the following link, you can see the organization chart of the company.
A new activity was started in 2005: the component concerning the transport of Romanian workers in Spain, project realized through the mediation of Labor Force Migration Office.



We about the Future

Starting from 2004 and the implementation of ISO9001:2001 quality standard, DACOS plans annual his strategically objectives and follows their end with the purpose of keeping DACOS in the top of national and international transport operators.
Strategically objectives were divided into 5 (five) categories. These objectives are oriented towards: client (opening new routes, purchasing new coaches, fitting out old ones and providing air conditioning systems in the head office control point), suppliers (establishing firm relationships with the suppliers, according to the "win-win" principle), company (reducing the number of road events involving DACOS vehicles, securing non-polluting transport, standardizing the fleet of coaches by purchasing only coaches manufactured by VDL BOVA), employees (training the management staff concerning quality management, modernizing the consulting room, finding and using DACOS uniforms) and management (profit increase, reducing park maintenance expenses and improving transport efficiency).

The recent years have drawn very clearly "the role" that DACOS wants to play as actor of the so-called Romanian market economy. Therefore, DACOS will act "parts" in:
I. Internal transport by regular routes for passengers, intensifying this domain by improving fleet management and opening new national routes;
II. International transport of passengers, increasing the turnover determined by occasional and touristic transport of people by improving the comfort level of the coaches;
III. Tourism, employing staff specialized in the touristic field and providing highly professional touristic services;
IV. Trading lubricants and oil-based products, maintaining the quality of products and services traded by means of the already existing distribution station;
V. Car repair and maintenance activities for third parties, a new investment field marked by projects entirely or partially self-financed;
VI. Taxi service, using the "brand" Gold Taxi, DACOS offers professional taxi services starting from 2004.

More than 1,500,000 passengers choose to travel by DACOS every year. DACOS passengers often tell us that, even if their own cars are good enough to use them, they choose to travel by DACOS as it is safer and cheaper. A third of our passengers are students or graduates. More than 5,000 from them subscribed to the discount program "DACOS Student CARD".
